Package Design Magazine Names Maximo the Winner of The 2009 Makeover Challenge

Phoenix-based visual branding agency Maximo has won the prestigious Annual Package Design Makeover Challenge, by Package Design Magazine. As one of four participating firms, Maximo was charged with redesigning packages for Casa Visco, a maker of delicious Italian sauces located in Schenectady, NY. Maximo is featured on the cover of the magazine's November issue, with the winning packaging concepts showcased inside, along with other examples of Maximo's packaging

"This is a great honor for us. We're proud (and happy) that ours was selected as the winning design," said Joe Ray, Maximo's President and Creative Director. "Product packaging is one of the areas in which we have always excelled. Casa Visco's commitment to producing quality products was a very big part of what made this project a lot of fun from the very beginning."

Maximo, along with three other participating agencies, had a few weeks to develop new package concepts for the Casa Visco brand. "Once again, I'd like to thank all the teams for the excellent work and time put into the Makeover Challenge. I am always surprised and delighted by the unique solutions offered each year," said Ron Romanik, Editor-in-Chief of Package Design Magazine. "I think the online voters chose Maximo's design as their favorite because the rebranding achieved a great balance between Italian heritage, fine ingredients, hand-crafted quality, and a modern, upscale appeal."

The 2009 Annual Package Design Makeover is sponsored by EskoArtwork, maker of software systems for packaging designers, and represents the sixth consecutive year Package Design Magazine has conducted the popular design challenge.
